KRA Launches 4th Annual Community Care Day

Knowlton R. Atterbeary, KRA President & CEO, has officially launched the 2012 Community Care Day campaign, a company-wide initiative created to celebrate the joy of giving and sharing good works with customers and neighbors in the communities the firm serves. The 2011 Community Care Day program, coordinated by Mr. Domonique Goode, a KRA Quality Assurance Team Leader, benefitted many deserving community organizations including five Ronald McDonald Houses, three group homes for neglected and troubled youth, a family homeless shelter, and a food pantry. KRA/CTWorks/HPL Open House

On October 3, 2012, Mary Crean, Hartford Public Library (HPL), and Sandra Rodriguez, Capital Workforce Partners (CWP), issued a joint press release announcing an Open House on October 11th, celebrating the success of the “CTWorks @ HPL” partnership that “Is working …to help Hartford residents find jobs.”  CWP, the North Central Connecticut Region’s Workforce Investment Board, and KRA’s client, and the HPL joined forces in July 2012 to open a satellite One-Stop Career Center in downtown Hartford.  The announcement stated that in 3 months of activity CTWorks @ HPL “has assisted over 1,000 individuals in their quests for jobs, training and career assistance.” The community

On October 3, 2012, a dozen staff members from the KRA/VIEW (Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare) Program in Norfolk attended an Appreciation Luncheon hosted by Community Personal Care (CPC) exclusively for KRA Corporation to demonstrate their appreciation for the long-time productive working relationship with the company.  CPC, which was established in 1998 by W. On October 15, 2012, Ernestine Chambers began working for the Work Participation, Placement, and Support Services Program as a KRA Career Agent. In and of itself, this is not a newsworthy accomplishment. However, how she got the job is. Chambers, who is 29, single, and the mother of three, enrolled with the KRA Orientation program as a condition of receiving Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits through the Baltimore Department of Social Services (DSS), KRA’s client agency. KRA/CTWorks Launches Fundraiser

Staff from the North Central Region’s KRA/CTWorks Program have set a goal to raise $3,000 for the Hartford area United Way 2012 Fundraising Campaign.  Kimberly Staley, KRA Program Director reported, “The United Way’s contribution to our community is incredible.  They operate the 2-1-1 public assistance phone line, and last year responded to more than 340,000 calls representing more than 450,000 requests for assistance.  They sponsor early childhood education programs, assist more than 1,200 people with intellectual challenges to live independently, and through their Summer extended-day learning programs help students to improve performance in 90% of the subjects they study.” Karen Brown, KRA Deputy Program
