KRA Monthly Spotlight!

Despite lingering COVID-19 restrictions in many KRA-program states, we are continuing to provide Innovative Solutions, Exceptional Service, and Trusted Results for our client-partners and our WIOA and TANF customers across the country. A brief overview of just a few accomplishments follows:

San Diego, CA – Dan Maclean, 59, felt his age and 15+ years out of the job market would work against him finding suitable employment. However, his KRA Career Agent convinced him they could make his 20-year military career as a Navy Seal work for him. Through the Employment Recovery Initiative-Customized Training, Dan received no-cost instruction to earn a Certified BSIS Guard Card.  During training, Allied Universal Services hired Dan as a Security Guard, and after training promoted him to BSI Weapons Instructor.

Chicago, IL – KRA operates The Chatham Education and Workforce Center, on the City’s South Side, which was featured in a Careers segment as part of Our Chicago: Black Voices of Change, an ABC-7 TV series that spotlights important issues facing Chicago’s Black community.

Baltimore City, MD –  Recently, three female and four male students graduated the KRA Knowledge2Career Construction Academy, earning HBI-PACT credentialing in Carpentry and OSHA-10 Cards that qualify them for multiple entry-level opportunities in Residential Carpentry and Facility Maintenance.  Kevin Thomas, KRA Carpentry Instructor, with 27 years’ trade experience and 6 years’ instruction expertise, taught them well.  Of the seven, three have already received firm job offers (two have started work) and the other four are actively interviewing with local employers, including Urban Strategies and the Baltimore Housing Authority.

Reno, NV – KRA is the One Stop Operator for the American Job Center of Nevada (AJCN), a “hub” of agencies and organizations that collaboratively provide comprehensive wrap-around services for jobseekers and employers in the Northern Region.  Recently, several new AJCN developments have emerged, to include welcoming Ms. Robin Walsh, KRA Program Manager, whose workforce-services expertise includes 13 years in business, community, and program development and management.  She commented, “We are continuing to promote our programs and services through our new AJCN Website, on Twitter, and on Facebook, which are increasing visibility and access to virtual hiring events, job openings, other activities and resources, as well as direct links to our valuable AJCN partner-providers.”
