CWP Honors KRA Workforce Professionals and Customers

Capital Workforce Partners, KRA client-partner for the operation of the multi-site Greater Hartford American Job Center, recently convened its 13th Annual Meeting Breakfast and Awards Ceremony.  Addressing the theme of “Aligning Vision to Action”, Mr. Alex Johnson, CWP President & CEO, extended a warm and inspirational welcome to nearly 200 guests, and bestowed “Star Awards”, a highlight of the event, honoring those who provide, and receive, life-changing workforce-development services in Connecticut’s North Central Region.

CT Stars Photo - half sizeProfessional Workforce Star Awards were presented to Mark Allen, KRA Retention Specialist, for his relentless dedication to the success of customers participating in the Free to Succeed Program for returning ex-offenders, and Ted Tencza, KRA Technology Support Specialist, for his invaluable program-wide IT services.

Jobseeker-Customer Star Awards recognized Beatriz Soto and Robert Kelly for their success in overcoming multiple obstacles to sustainable employment. With Allen’s guidance and support, Soto was granted a CT Department of Corrections Certificate of Employability, evidence to potential employers of a full pardon, and is now employed with a local law firm as a Legal Assistant.

Kelly—nominated by Rosa Dicker, his KRA Career Agent—exhibited incredible determination and leadership, qualities that supported him in progressing from a part-time dishwasher/prep cook to a full-time Kitchen Manager, overseeing two locations of a local bar-and-grill establishment.

Post-ceremony, Knowlton R. Atterbeary, KRA President/CEO, commented, “We applaud the accomplishments of all our workforce professionals and are especially pleased that Mark and Ted have received this coveted CWP acknowledgment. Also, Ms. Soto and Mr. Kelly are truly examples of what collaborative customer-service that is Innovative, Exceptional, and Trusted can achieve.”
