KRA/San Diego Organizes Collaborative Career Event

“Mayor Kevin Faulconer came by to congratulate us on a job well done!” reports Deona Dorsey, KRA Operations Manager-Special Projects.

San Diego - JCNIThat “job” was a mega Community Career Fair, a collaboration with key local partners–the San Diego Workforce Partnership, KRA client; the San Diego American Job Center network; local Welfare To Work agencies; and venue provider, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation.

More than 50 private- and public-sector employers interviewed on-the-spot, selected candidates for initial and follow-up offsite interviews, and expressed extreme satisfaction with the event, offering comments such as, “This is one of the best job fairs I have participated in.” “Love the diversity of the represented employers.” “The energy here is very positive.”

And, approximately 500 jobseekers were equally impressed with the employers represented, with many expressing sentiments such as, “They all were  hiring for open positions, not just attending to provide ‘resources’.”

Deona concluded, “Very positive feedback indicates that the event was extremely successful.  Many employers had voiced concern that they’ve noticed an overall decline in job-fair attendance, but were impressed with our turn-out!  Consequently, we’ve been asked to do this again next year–in addition to our plans to participate in ‘JOBICON’ at the San Diego Convention Center, which promises to be a super-mega event!!”
