KRA’s Walk Against Violence

Philadelphia has one of the highest murder rates in the country. To help the community “take back the streets”, KRA hosted a Walk Against Violence. Many prominent Philadelphia political leaders participated in the event including then-Mayor Michael Nutter, Councilwomen Donna Reed Miller, and State Representative John Meyers’ Chief of Staff Steven Kinsey. Many community partners participated as well. KRA staff and partners marched on the streets in some of the most hostile and violent neighborhoods chanting “stop the violence- increase the peace- get these guns off our streets!” The event not only sent a message to those terrorizing the streets, but united local agencies to bring awareness to and dialogue on an epidemic affecting our community.
