Practice Makes Perfect for  Medina County, Ohio Customer

KRA logo, "Success Story", picture of subject Matt DavisSince September 2024, KRA has proudly delivered WIOA-funded Career, Business, and One-Stop Operator Services through the OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Career Center Network in Medina and Summit Counties.

A recent success story comes from Career Coach Betty Holnapy about Matt Davis, who  enrolled in the Medina program in June 2026. He had been gainfully employed as  a Child Care Worker with a local agency that assists youth in crisis.

However, after 15 years, he was ready for a career transition, especially one that might provide more opportunities for advancement.

Guided by Betty and Deborah Johns, Center Manager, Matt attended all the job-readiness workshops available, including interview preparation since it had been awhile since he had undergone an employment-interview process—a daunting prospect considering today’s competitive job market.

Matt requested more in-depth interviewing practice when informed he was being considered for a leadership position with the Julie Billiart Schools. In response, Betty and Deborah constructed one-on-one mock situations reflective of  today’s most common human-resources practices, e.g., a phone interview, followed by a Zoom-call interview, then the in-person interview—and in Matt’s case, an offer of employment!

On July 13, 2026, Matt began his new job as the Aftercare Site Director, overseeing and coordinating the school’s aftercare program; supervising students during arrivals, dismissals, lunch, and transitions; and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Deborah reported, “Although Matt considered other job offers, he ‘lit up’ when reflecting on the diversity of  the youth he has worked with, and how fortunate he is to utilize all the experience and expertise gained over the years. Matt’s journey reflects the power of personalized career coaching, practical skill-building, and dedicated support in helping job seekers confidently pursue new opportunities. At KRA, we are proud to represent OhioMeansJobs in Medina and empower individuals like Matt to achieve meaningful career success and strengthen the local community we serve.
