Maryland Invests in State Cybersecurity Workforce Training

On October 6, 2025, in its Workforce & People section, a govtech.com post reported that “The Maryland Department of Labor, with its Cyber Maryland program, has announced the state’s Cyber and AI Clinic Grant, which will support workforce development within the cybersecurity field.

“The Cyber Maryland investment aims to support organizations that invest in workforce development via the Cyber and AI Clinic, which will train residents for careers in this field and offer security services.

“The cybersecurity workforce is growing amidst an evolving threat landscape, and strategies are emerging to bolster workforce capacity.  As the federal funding landscape for cybersecurity changes, some cybersecurity responsibilities are expected to shift to states.”

In addition to Maryland being our HQ state since the firm’s founding in 1981, KRA has provided WIOA and TANF workforce-development services to thousands of jobseeker-customers on behalf of Baltimore City, Anne Arundel and Prince Georges Counties, and a current initiative  under the auspices of the Baltimore WDB and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development that equips residents with the skills needed to thrive in today’s job market.

Therefore, we welcome the introduction of the Cyber and AI Clinic Grants that will invest in career-training clinics to advance the career-development of the State’s un- and under-employed residents. Now is the time for workforce service providers to integrate cybersecurity and AI training pathways that empower Maryland’s workforce to model excellence and lead in this new digital era.
