KRA Thanks You for Your Service!

Today, we celebrate Veterans Day to honor all men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.

History tells us that in 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, i.e. a temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as The Great War. On November 11, 1919, President Wilson proclaimed the first Armistice Day, and in 1954—in the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War—Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

As we take time today to honor our Veterans, we also want to highlight how WIOA prioritizes workforce services for them. In most instances, separating service members and eligible spouses (SSM/ES) have to qualify for, or have exhausted, Unemployment Compensation benefits; be on terminal leave from the military; or be on active-duty status, but have imminent separation dates to receive WIOA Services as Dislocated Workers entering or reentering the civilian labor force

During participation in a Transition Assistance Program—which is required to ensure preparation for civilian employment—SSM/ES are encouraged to contact American Job Centers (AJC) in their areas, such as the multiple-site One-Stop and AJC programs KRA has operated for 25+ years on the East Coast, West Coast, in the Midwest, and in the South.

At KRA programs, SSM/ES qualify for Priority of Service, which means—by WIOA-mandate— they have access to our Career Services’ offerings—individualized career counseling, Occupational Re-Skilling/Up-Skilling Development, On-The-Job Training opportunities, et al—before our other WIOA Dislocated Worker customers..

In addition, KRA Business Services’ staff assist our SSM/ES population with resume development, job-search methodologies, interviewing techniques, preparation for Job Fairs and other employer-recruitment events, and small-business development assistance to help them develop the skills and build the resources needed to start an entrepreneurial enterprise.

KRA honors all Veterans across the nation—not just today but every day—with a special heartfelt thank-you to our employees, customers, clients, and community partners who served unselfishly in the Armed Forces to preserve and protect the freedoms we value as Americans.
