On November 22nd, Team KRAchievers of the VIEW (Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare) Program—operated by KRA Corporation for the Norfolk Department of Human Services—participated in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital “Give Thanks Walk” fundraiser.
St. Jude is a treatment and research facility dedicated to children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases, and for the second year in a row, Team KRAchievers walked the family-friendly 5K through the Norfolk Zoological Park.
We applaud the KRA/VIEW staff—Ninette Adams-Terry, Employment Specialist; Andrea Burfoot, Career Agent Team Leader, whose mother and brother joined the Team; Brianna Clark, Career Agent; Kathy Confer, Educational Developer Instructor; and Sharon Morse, HR Partner/Administrative Assistant—who volunteered for the Walk, helping our Norfolk community raise more than $75,000!
Kathy, who organized the Team for the event, is also Regional Coordinator for “Team Beads of Courage”, which provides colorful beads to children with life-threatening illnesses, as a way for them to tell their stories, using the beads as symbols of courage, commemorating milestones achieved in their treatments.
Team KRAchievers carried beads with them, sending them on to children at St. Jude after the Walk, hoping to provide a little cheer and encouragement to brighten their day.
