On September 24, the National Association of Workforce Development’s (NAWDP) 2014 Youth Development Symposium came to a close. But for 500+ youth-development workers and stakeholders, the end of the Symposium was also the beginning of a renewed resolve to address the challenges presented by our at-risk youth.
KRA Corporation, the only Platinum Sponsor, was pleased to provide this level of support for the Symposium, and proud that, for the second time, NAWDP selected Joe Seymour, CTWorks/KRA Trainer and Subject Matter Expert, to create the video for the Youth Symposium Plenary. Also, KRA provided sponsorship for two keycards for each participant staying at the host hotel.
Mentorship, program design and development, youth empowerment, removing barriers to progress—were all major themes presented in 40+ workshops. And, discussions with policymakers helped to clarify how the newly authorized WIOA will prepare America’s young adults for today’s job market.
Michael Stevenson, KRA Innovation Manager, commented, “Participants left motivated and galvanized about taking exciting new ideas, training techniques, and resources back to their regions. Danny Davis’ [D-Illinois] Opening Remarks reminded us ‘we must continue to believe and hope in our youth’. The Symposium concluded with each participant leaving with a reason to do just that!”
