KRA/Southern Nevada One-Stop Director Back on TV!

Earlier this month, Bonita Fahy, KRA Director of One-Stop Career Center (OSCC) Operations for Southern Nevada, was—for the second time in 2 months—featured on News 3 LV TV, this time, promoting a free LinkedIn or Left Out Workshop.  KRA reported on her first TV appearance, on February 25, 2019, in the article Las Vegas One-Stop Hosts First Workforce Summit. However, that was not the only newsworthy event last month.

Director Fahy, Representative Titus, and Manager Bowling

On February 21, Nevada’s First Congressional District Representative Dina Titus visited the Las Vegas Comprehensive OSCC. Accompanied by Ms. Fahy and Princette Bowling, KRA Manager of OSCC Operations, she toured the facility, and after learning about the incredible array of workforce-development services offered, thanked the KRA Team for the great work it is doing in Southern Nevada!”

Then on February 24, Ms. Fahy participated in an information-gathering trip to San Antonio, with delegates from Workforce Connections, KRA partner-client; the Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation; and other State, County, and City representatives of Education, Health/Human, and Juvenile Justice Programs.

She reported, “Our common objective was to learn about Texas’ best practices in workforce development—especially related to the integration of the State’s Secondary and Higher Education systems—meeting and touring with representatives from the local WDB and the Education and Training Centers of the Alamo Colleges District, including the OSCCs located on the ACD campus.

A significant ‘take-away’ for me was how Texas combines the attainment of high-school diplomas and 2-year college degrees. Thus, participating students graduate with an Associates’ degree, which better prepares them for entry into the workplace!”
