KRA President & CEO Visits Training Provider-Partner

Our recent Spotlight! reported that Knowlton R. Atterbeary was visiting local KRA programs as part of the firm’s Motivated and Moving Forward Tour 2017, focused on our Continuous Quality Improvement Initiative.

During his visit to the KRA/San Diego Metro Region Career Centers, operated for the San Diego Workforce Partnership (SDWP), Atterbeary toured the facility of one of the WIOA-approved Training Providers that offers occupational-skills development for eligible Adult/Dislocated Workers.

San Diego UBC Storefront 180x240The Urban Barber College, owned by Jerry Riggins, a retired military veteran, offers a 9-month training program, accommodating 20-30 students at a time. Currently enrolled are eight KRA/San Diego participants, whose tuition is funded through grants to the SDWP for WIOA Individual Training Accounts (ITA).

Riggins and Atterbeary discussed the importance of WIOA/ITA training grants, without which many jobseeker-customers would not gain the workplace skills and credentials needed to set them on a career path toward self-reliance and responsibility.

Upon his departure, Atterbeary applauded the students’ determination to succeed, wishing them all well in the future, and Riggins expressed his appreciation for the KRA/San Diego program, the opportunities provided through WIOA, and the services and support provided to him and the students.
