KRA Labor Luncheon: Empowering Louisiana’s Workforce Development

In November 2023, KRA announced its partnership with the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) to support Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) participants in achieving sustainable employment.

Recently, KRA hosted its first quarterly Labor Luncheon for 50+ attendees from community-development agencies, local businesses, DCFS, the Louisiana Workforce Commission, and other stakeholders invested in the region’s economic growth and development.

Dorian Ford, Job Developer, welcomed the guests—many of whom expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be updated on the KRA career-development process to ensure effective outcomes for FITAP customers.

Kiondra Chambliess, Career Navigator Lead, discussed the participants’ journey from intake to education, followed by Evis Everhart, Lead Job Developer, who created an atmosphere for positive change, encouraging the audience with collaborating with KRA in the future.

Von Jennings, City of Shreveport Public Information Officer, shared experiences of her 15+ workforce-development journey, and why she trusts KRA to foster economic stability for underserved North Louisiana populations.

Tabitha Taylor commented, “As a Councilwoman of District A, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to KRA for hosting this Labor Luncheon.  We appreciate KRA’s commitment to economic development…and are thrilled to welcome them as a valuable addition to Shreveport.”

“The KRA Labor Luncheon was an excellent event, very resourceful and helped me redefine success and what it looks like for our participants.,” stated Runiaja Vicksbrown, FITAP Program Manager.

Derrick Colbert, KRA Director, Strategic Partnerships, concluded, “Our 40+ years of excellence in workforce development catalyzes favorable economic growth for all our programs.  Alleviating participants’ barriers to career success through education and training bolsters our ability to create strong business-services partnerships, through which we can develop a skilled ‘job ready’ workforce as an engine for North Louisiana’s upward mobility.”
