KRA & American Infrastructure… A Promising Partnership

Bob Capps, Director of Recruiting, Retention, and Career Development for American Infrastructure (AI), was surfing “Norfolkworkforcedevelopment.com” and read about the work that KRA Corporation does in the community and for the City of Norfolk. Impressed, he contacted Don Scott, KRA Senior Vice President for Workforce Operations, and the two scheduled a meeting to discuss how a KRA/AI partnership could be mutually beneficial. Capps met with Scott and Ninette Adams, Employment Specialist, at KRA’s Norfolk office.

Founded in 1939, AI is a family-owned “heavy civil construction company and material supplier” that began as a hauling company in Philadelphia. Today, their network of regional mid-Atlantic construction offices, quarries, and asphalt plants provide the framework necessary for AI to service customers effectively and efficiently.

KRA Corportion and AI will connect again next month to schedule onsite interviews for qualified candidates. Adams has already started the screening process to identify customers who can interview for the positions that AI will have available in October in the Hampton Roads area. Some positions for hire are for General Laborers; however, for those with specific skill sets, positions will be available in Concrete/Carpentry, Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Plant, Driver, Pipe Layer, Asphalt/Paving, Curb, and Blasting, to name a few.

In addition, AI has agreed to participate in KRA’s September 16 Employment Fair. Capps stated “KRA and AI share many of the same workplace values. I’m looking forward to a great partnership with KRA.” www.americaninfrastructure.com
