Since September 2024, KRA has delivered WIOA-funded Career, Business, and One-Stop Operator Services through the OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Career Center Network in Medina and Summit Counties.
Recently, Betty Holnapy, OMJ Medina Career Coach, submitted a Customer Success Story about Sherilyn Dougherty, who enrolled as a WIOA-eligible Adult Worker jobseeker with the goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Since she had previous experience as a Patient Care Nursing Assistant and as a Medical Receptionist at University Hospitals—a major medical network of hospitals, outpatient health centers, and physician offices across Northern Ohio—Betty agreed with Sherilyn and supported her in achieving LPN credentialing as a positive, next-step on her career-path trajectory.
“I assisted Sherilyn in completing the process required to access funding for training through a WIOA Individual Training Account, after which she was accepted into the Polaris Adult Practical Nursing Program in Middleburgh Heights for the August 18, 2025 cohort.
“Successful in attending nursing school and caring for an active toddler, Sherilyn achieved A’s and B’s in her coursework, completing the LPN program on May 24, 2026, and passing the required National Council Licensure Examination on July 8, 2026!”
Sherilyn’s journey reflects the power of personalized career coaching, targeted skill-building, and dedicated support in helping jobseekers confidently pursue new opportunities.
KRA is proud to represent OMJ in Medina County, empowering individuals like Sherilyn to achieve meaningful career success and strengthen the local community we serve. We wish Sherilyn much success and join Betty for helping empower another jobseeker to take the next step toward a promising future!
