KRA Knowledge2Career Academy Continues to Succeed During Pandemic

In 2015, KRA launched the proprietary Knowledge2Career (K2C) Academy, offering Out-of-School Youth customized career services, including on-the-job training (OJT) linked directly to employment with companies in high-demand industries. KRA operates the K2C Academy for Capital Workforce Partners, the North Central Connecticut WDB, in partnership with the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT). Targeting the Manufacturing Industry, traditionally, K2C provided coursework through Tooling U-SME, and hands-on instruction through OJT agreements with participating employers. KRA Staff Improve Service Delivery Through TIC Training

According to the Trauma Informed Care Project, trauma-informed care (TIC) is “an organizational structure and treatment framework that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma [and] emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for both consumers and providers, and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.” In addition to supporting KRA’s corporate-wide 2016 Community Care Campaign, part of which focused on youth suffering from PTSD-type challenges, KRA/Long Beach Knowledge2Career Academy staff participated in local TIC-training events on practices that can assist individuals in coping with trauma-related obstacles to achieving personal and professional goals.
