Since September 2024, KRA has provided WIOA-funded Career, Business, and One-Stop Operator Services for Adult, Dislocated, and Youth Jobseekers through the OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Career Center Network, with offices in Akron [Summit County] and Medina [Medina County].

“My name is Bonita. At 59, I never expected to start over, but after being laid off from my job in May 2026, that’s exactly what happened. Losing my job was difficult, but I wasn’t ready to give up. It pushed me to seek a new chapter with more stability, growth, and opportunity.
“While researching resources online, I found OhioMeansJobs and learned how the WIOA Dislocated Worker Program could provide the support I needed to move forward with confidence. I chose to pursue a CDL Class B Certification [License to drive a single vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating greater than 26,000 pounds] because I wanted a valuable skill, more control over my future, and a reliable way to support myself.
“The training was challenging, with vehicle inspections, safety protocols, driving techniques, and regulations to learn. When I doubted myself, I kept studying, asking questions, and practicing until I gained confidence. My Career Coach helped me stay on track through regular calls, emails, encouragement, and clear next steps. Her support made the process manageable and kept me focused.
“Earning my certification proved I could overcome setbacks, learn new skills, and create new opportunities. My CDL opened doors, expanded my job options, increased my earning potential, and gave me a path with stability and long-term growth.
