KRA's Botts Trains Student Ambassadors

For the third year, Charles Botts III, Subject Matter Expert and Trainer for CTWorks—operated by KRA Corporation for Capital Workforce Partners—volunteered to facilitate a Train-The-Trainers workshop at the University of Connecticut’s (UCONN) West Hartford campus.

This year, Charles presented effective job-search techniques for a group of eight student leaders— “Ambassadors” for the UCONN Student Support Services (SSS) program. Although they represent all four class levels, diverse backgrounds, and different majors and career goals, the SSS Ambassadors share a common passion—helping their fellow students.

A dual-Certified Professional Resume Writer and Workforce Development Professional, Charles focused on four major job-hunting tools: writing a strong cover letter; developing an effective résumé for online applications; using social media as a job-search tool; and networking both on- and- off-line.  Receptive and engaged, the ambassadors expressed strong convictions they could use the information themselves, as well as share the “lessons learned” with fellow students.

Charles concluded, “KRA/CTWorks is very active in the Greater Hartford community-at-large, many times going above-and-beyond to support local organizational partners, so I am always happy to share my expertise in this area.  Many students, especially the juniors and seniors, are preparing to enter the workplace, and it pays to have as many job-search strategies as possible.”
