KRA Corporation’s Work Participation, Placement, and Support Services Program, operated for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, recently hosted its first Horseshoe Casino Baltimore Legendary Candidates Academy as part of a city-wide recruitment effort to fill 1,700 new positions resulting from a $442m Casino expansion.
The 2-day Academy provides in-depth information about the requirements for various Casino positions, outlines the pre-employment process, underscores the Casino’s emphasis on exceptional customer service, and prepares candidates for position-specific interviews.
Forty participants, 58% of whom were KRA/Baltimore customers, began the program, and 33—again 58% of whom were recruited by KRA/Baltimore—graduated with certificates of Academy completion.
Yvette Clark, KRA Business Services Manager, co-facilitated the Academy with Robert Banks, KRA Job Developer, and reported, “On April 21-22, the Casino held a special hiring event for Dealer positions, and on May 5-7, will be interviewing for Food & Beverage, Marketing, and Security jobs.
We are pleased that our 19 Academy graduates will be given preference at these hiring events. This is a unique and exciting recruitment campaign that is succeeding in putting Baltimore residents to work; that is what KRA/Baltimore is all about, and we have eagerly agreed to host more Academy trainings when requested by the Casino.”
