KRA/Rancho Dominguez AJCC Meets Compton Community

Last Month, the KRA/Rancho Dominguez Comprehensive American Job Center of California (AJCC) hosted a “meet-and-greet” to introduce its team formally to members of the community, including the Honorable Emma Sharif, Mayor of Compton, who later shared her appreciation for the event on social media: “Welcoming KRA Corporation to the City of Compton. Find out more about jobs and career opportunities at the AJCC 2909 E. Pacific Commerce Drive, Compton, CA 90221.”

Representatives and officials of more than 20 public- and private-sector organizations—including the City of Compton and local businesses—attended to learn more about KRA’s Corporate Mission and Vision, as well as the firm’s customer-centered, business-focused, and growth-oriented service-delivery strategy as the new AJCC Program Operator.

Mr. Colbert, Ms. Moore, Mayor Sharif, and Ms. Adams-Pettaway

JaVette Adams-Pettaway, Program Director, kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome for the attendees, introducing Derrick Colbert, KRA Managing Director, Operational Excellence; Shanavia Moore, Director, Workforce Operations; and Donna Eissoh, Business Services Manager, who facilitated the event’s proceedings.

Following remarks by Mr. Colbert on “The KRA Way” of engaging businesses, developing workers, and nurturing stronger communities, Ms. Adam-Pettaway and Ms. Eissoh provided detailed information on AJCC Business and Career Services’ programs, including On-The-Job Training, Youth Internships, and targeted reentry-support services for justice-involved individuals through our status as an LA County Department of Economic Opportunity Center of Excellence, in concert with the County’s INVEST Second Chance Program.

Ms. Eissoh commented, “We’re here to help people build skills to pursue steady careers, and to strengthen the relationships between the AJCC, local businesses, partner organizations, and the community, including commitments from the Department of Mental Health and Compton City Hall to work collaboratively with us to expand our services.”

“This event was just the beginning! Our team is focused on delivering programs that meet people where they are and support them to get where they want to go. We’re excited to roll up our sleeves and get to work together.” concluded Ms. Adams-Pettaway.

Following the formal portion of the program, KRA staff met with Mayor Sharif to continue the conversation around regional needs, shared goals, and how the AJCC is an invaluable one-stop workforce-services resource for the community.
