KRA Las Vegas OSCC Operation Expands Library-Affiliate Sites

Bonita Fahy, Director, One-Stop Career Centers (OSCC), reports, “When Workforce Connections selected KRA to manage the Las Vegas-based operation, we offered our services through one Comprehensive OSCC and seven library-affiliate sites, which we expanded to include an eighth facility, the Green Valley Library, in January 2018.

Today, KRA OSCC operations include 10 affiliate-sites, throughout all four Library Districts, expanding accessibility to our career-development resources for our WIOA, Welfare and Supportive Services, and Community Service Block Grant jobseekers and employers in the Southern Nevada communities we serve.

In addition, on March 11, 2019, we announced that the KRA OSCC Team and its agency- and community-partners, celebrated providing 1,000 jobseeker-customers with educational, employment, and/or job-training services, with our WC Contract Administrator, Jeramey Pickett, and Councilwoman Michelle Fiore participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.”

Reporting on the April 19th opening of the ninth affiliate site, Ms. Fahy shared a quote from Director Forrest Lewis, “The North Las Vegas Library District, in conjunction with the City of North Las Vegas, is thrilled to be opening a new One-Stop Career Center in our Aliante Library branch.

This new center will complement our current operations at the Alexander Library branch, and allow us to expand the valuable workforce services and programs to a broader swath of the North Las Vegas community. It has truly been our pleasure to work with Nevada Workforce Connections, KRA, and the many community partners who provide the wide array of valuable workforce services for our patrons.”

Related to the April 25th Grand Opening of the new, technically advanced East Las Vegas Library, which included a Community Resource Fair supported by 20 participating agencies, Ms. Fahy provided this comment from Community Engagement Director, Matt McNally, “The opening of the One-Stop Career Center in the East Las Vegas Library will prove to be an extremely valuable service to help customers find jobs with quality pay.

The partnership is so important to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, that we specifically designed a suite…to co-locate One-Stop Career Center services adjacent to our Title II Adult Education services.  This intentional design further strengthens the partnership by creating a natural pipeline for customers to receive either/both education and workforce services.”
