Valued at USD 19.3 billion in 2021, the organic personal-care sector of the Health and Wellness Industry is expected to reach USD 42.19 billion by 2030—an extremely favorable forecast for Fran Ngong, owner of Fran’s Organic Bodycare in Towson Center Mall and the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
One day, she mentioned an immediate need to fill three positions to a colleague, who recommended Ms. Ngong contact the KRA Work Participation, Placement, and Support Services Program.
On May 26, 2022, she contacted Shawnda Walker, KRA/Baltimore Lead Job Developer, who recommended an in-person Job Fair on June 2, 2022, as the best option for filling the Administrative, Retail Sales, and Warehouse positions as soon as possible.
For 23 customers in attendance, Ms. Ngong—delighted that KRA organized the event so quickly—kicked off the Job Fair with an overview of the company’s operations, after which she encouraged interested attendees to apply.
Of seven applicants interviewed, she chose three for hire, pending a “shadow day” for worksite tours, onboarding paperwork, and shift- and start-date assignments.
Ms. Ngong intends to open a third store at the Lexington Market in September, and KRA is already organizing a July Job Fair so all positions required for the new location will be filled.
