KRA Launches 4th Annual Community Care Day

Knowlton R. Atterbeary, KRA President & CEO, has officially launched the 2012 Community Care Day campaign, a company-wide initiative created to celebrate the joy of giving and sharing good works with customers and neighbors in the communities the firm serves. The 2011 Community Care Day program, coordinated by Mr. Domonique Goode, a KRA Quality Assurance Team Leader, benefitted many deserving community organizations including five Ronald McDonald Houses, three group homes for neglected and troubled youth, a family homeless shelter, and a food pantry. More than 800 items of food, household goods, clothing, gift cards, and school supplies were donated to the 10 facilities visited, and the overall effort put smiles on the faces of more than 300 family members.

Goode has passed the reins to Tiffany Haynes, a KRA Lead Instructor, who with volunteer coordinators from each KRA project site, is planning a Support Our Troops Drive to collect non-perishable foodstuffs and other goods that will be donated to local USO Centers for distribution to troops stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other areas around the world.

According to Haynes, “By early- to mid-December, the goal is for each KRA site, including Headquarters, to collect at least 300 items.  Thousands of men and women are stationed in places where the nearest convenience store requires a combat convoy just to make the trip! Troops send e-mails and letters all the time requesting everyday items…things that we take for granted, like blank writing cards and envelopes, greeting cards, postage, and AT&T phone cards.  And, unselfishly, many soldiers also request items like pencils, individually wrapped hard candies, and small stuffed toys that they can give to the local children.”

Every year since 2009, KRA staff have selflessly volunteered time, effort, and gifts to make each Community Care Day a resounding success.  As in the past, the company is proud to launch this new effort dedicated to our military, whose families in our communities need to know that their loved ones are remembered and honored for the sacrifices they make for all of us.
