Vanessa E. Atterbeary, Esq. has been appointed to serve on the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board by Michael Busch, Speaker of the Maryland State House of Delegates, and Dereck Davis, Chair of the Economic Matters Committee.
Delegate Atterbeary, who represents District 13, commented, ” I am truly honored by the trust that Speaker Busch and Chairman Davis have invested in me with this appointment. My first meeting is a week from today, and I am very excited to begin working with Mike DiGiacomo, Executive Director, and all the other dedicated Board members, including Governor Hogan and Lt. Governor Rutherford!
My parents have dedicated their professional lives to education, and employment and training programs–as tools for economic development and growth–since before I was born! So, having grown up in a ‘workforce development’ culture, up to and including my current KRA position, I thoroughly appreciate the critical and strategic policy-development role that all WIBs contribute to the success of our public workforce investment system.
As the GWIB is an integral component of our Maryland Jobs Now initiative, I am looking forward to making a contribution in ensuring the current and future success of Maryland’s businesses, and to supporting their efforts in providing Maryland’s unemployed and under-employed with sustainable career opportunities.”
