KRA Celebrates Highly Successful Community Care Day Program

As previously reported, on November 23, 2011, Knowlton R. Atterbeary, KRA President & CEO, officially launched the firm’s 2011 Community Care Day, a company-wide initiative created in 2009 to celebrate the joy of giving and sharing good works with customers and neighbors in the communities the firm serves. From Sunday, December 4, 2011, through Saturday, December 17, 2011, for KRA it was mission accomplished.  In a recent thank-you letter to staff, Mr. Atterbeary wrote, “From the Baltimore kick-off activities to the Norfolk wrap-up event, many deserving organizations reaped the benefits of your selfless efforts: visits with families/staff at five Ronald McDonald Houses, three group homes for neglected and troubled youth, a family homeless shelter, and a food pantry. Prior to and during these events, you spent hundreds of volunteer hours shopping, cooking, baking, serving meals, bagging foodstuffs, performing clean-ups, soliciting donations from staff and community partners, and maybe most importantly, sharing your time with families and children whose lives present great challenges. You have my sincerest thanks for making this year’s Community Care Day a resounding success.”

More than 800 items of food, household goods, clothing, gift cards, and school supplies were donated to the 10 facilities visited, and the overall effort put smiles on the faces of more than 300 family members.  KRA is pleased with its employees’ devoted efforts that contributed to this initiative, and eagerly looks forward to its 4thAnnual Community Care Day, in 2012…and beyond.  Pictured below are KRA Norfolk VIEW (Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare) staff and friend.
