KRA and Equi-Kids, a Therapeutic Combination

KRA staff participated in an all-staff volunteer day with the Equi-Kids Therapeutic Riding Program, a non-profit organization that offers horseback riding lessons to kids with mental and/or physical disabilities. Staff participated in a day on the farm and contributed to tasks such as gardening, cleaning saddles, washing horse trailers, and cleaning the horse trails. As a result of this activity, KRA developed a permanent volunteer collaboration/leadership development program with Equi-Kids for the benefit of Portsmouth In-School Program youth, who met on a regular basis at the farm to help the kids with their riding lessons, and to receive training related to equine activities and care, the ins-and-outs of ranching, and what it takes to run a non-profit activity.
