On March 20, 2025, the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety hosted an extremely successful Hiring Event in collaboration with the City Colleges of Chicago; the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, KRA client for the operation of the American Job Center at Malcolm X College’s West Campus, as well as the Chatham Education Workforce Center on the South Side; and KRA.
The turnout was exceptionally strong, with nearly 500 eager candidates ready to connect with employers to explore open positions, career-opportunity pathways, and training programs offered by 36 participating businesses.
To date, 41 conditional hires have been made, with 57 candidates invited for second-round interviews. As employer-reporting is ongoing, more information on hires in progress is still unfolding.
“Creating access to quality jobs is key to building safer, thriving communities. Together, we’re strengthening Chicago’s future, one opportunity at a time.” posted Mayor Brandon Johnson following the event.
KRA played an integral role in planning and delivering the event experience, with Nieal Smith-Ross, Program Director, commenting, “It’s not just about employment, it’s about access—to career pathways, training, and community resources that help people take the next step forward.”
In addition to offering hiring opportunities, the event featured table-top exhibits with information on education, workforce development, and supportive services available across the City.
If you’re an employer in the Chicagoland area looking to connect with local talent and/or participate in future hiring events, please contact KRA.
