Demand-Driven Job Training Essential to KRA/WIOA Services

Established in 1890, Camden Day Nursery is the oldest daycare business in Camden, NJ, and one of KRA’s most valued partners, providing Community Work Experience Program opportunities for the Job Skills Training Directly Related to Employment Program*.

After 2 years’ unemployment, and surviving on public-assistance benefits, 27-year old Joshua Reed enrolled with KRA/Camden, intent on training for a career in an industry that provided advancement and stability, opportunities lacking in the dead-end, short-term jobs he had held.

After  job-readiness assessment and preparation, Nicole Powers, CWEP Coordinator, contacted Camden Day for a potential work-experience opportunity for Joshua.  And, impressed with his confident and personable demeanor, they agreed immediately to a volunteer Teacher’s Aide position.

Camden - Joshua Reed - With Contrast - recroppedWithin a matter of weeks, recognizing his potential–and needing more support preparing for its 125th Anniversary Celebration in October–Camden Day offered Joshua the opportunity of a lifetime: working fulltime, training on-the-job, and financing his college enrollment in a Teacher’s Aide Certification program!

Nicole concluded, “Joshua’s success is a prime example of a demand-driven job opportunity.  A stronger economy has put more parents back to work, making child daycare a growing in-demand sector.  We are very excited about the career success that lies ahead in Joshua’s future.”
