KRA Launches 8th Annual Community Care Campaign

Recently, KRA announced that its  2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC) focuses on two special jobseeker-populations, whose obstacles to meaningful and sustainable employment are not necessarily mutually exclusive: youth suffering from a form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and individuals with criminal backgrounds, i.e., ex-offenders. CCC Committee Coordinator, Nate’ Gordon, reports, “Most often, PTSD is used to describe a debilitating condition exhibited by Veterans who have served in war-torn areas of the world.  However, as incidences of inner-city violence increase right here at home, we are  encountering PTSD-type symptoms of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness in our young-adult customers—fueled by challenges of un- and

KRA Launches 6th Annual Community Care Campaign

Recently, Knowlton R. Atterbeary, KRA President & CEO, announced the launch of the firm’s 2014 Community Care Campaign, stating, “During October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, KRA employees, coast-to-coast, will be supporting the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in its mission ‘to work for major societal changes necessary to eliminate both personal and societal violence against all women and children’. KRA Supports Annual Lompoc Career Event

In January, the heavy rains that spawned massive mudslides in Southern California left a path of death and destruction in Santa Barbara County, including the city of Montecito, whose 2010-census count of 8,965 included Ellen DeGeneres, Rob Lowe, Oprah Winfrey, and other celebrities. KRA laments the loss of life and property suffered by anyone affected by such disasters. However, we surmise that the rebounding and rebuilding process was not as devastating in Montecito, the wealthiest community in the County, as it was—and still is—for other cities. Sixty miles away is the 130-year old city of Lompoc, with a 2010-census of 42,434

KRA Cares! A Message from the President & CEO

Labor Day honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made, and continue to make, toward the prosperity, stability, and strength of our nation. This weekend, millions of Americans will be having a festive time…food, fun, family and friends… reminiscing about summer’s end. However, for 13 million of our neighbors in Texas, Louisiana, and three other Gulf States…as well as their family and friends across the county and around the world…this Labor Day will long be remembered as a time of suffering and pain. Torrential rains, devastating winds, and widespread flooding have so far taken 40 lives,

KRA Receives Award for BUILDing Ex-offender Community Awareness

Months before KRA announced its 2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC), KRA’s Baltimore City Work Participation, Placement, and Support Services Program—operated for the Department of Social Services—was already a designated Community Partner supporting Turnaround Tuesday (TAT), a skills-training and job-placement program for “returning citizens”. Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development (BUILD) found its efforts to attract Business Partners so successful, they had more unfilled training slots and employment opportunities than ex-offender applicants.  Spearheaded by Career Agent Jermietria Carroll, for its 2016 CCC project, KRA/Baltimore targeted several high-crime zip codes and distributed TAT flyers  for an Ex-Offender Expo, expanding awareness of the services available
