Since September 2024, KRA has operated the Rancho Dominguez American Job Center of California (AJCC) for Los Angeles County, offering no-cost Career Services—including education, skills development, and job preparation/placement—for Adult, Dislocated, and Youth jobseekers and Business Services for employers in the County.
JaVette Adams-Pettaway, AJCC Program Director, states, “One of the vital services we offer to our partners is the opportunity to participate in interactive Business Roundtable (BRT) events, offering unique opportunities for a deeper understanding of customer challenges, promoting engagement and innovation, and improving customer retention.
“BRTs—depending on the perspective and purpose of each gathering—enhance decision-making and problem-solving, foster knowledge-sharing and peer-learning, and strengthen relationships through networking in a collaborative environment.”
Donna Eissoh, AJCC Business Services Manager and BRT Facilitator, commented, “Our September 30th event was a tremendous success, bringing together community partners; training providers; and employers from Healthcare, Hospitality. Human Resources, Logistics, Rehabilitation, Transportation, and Security sectors, to strengthen collaboration and promote workforce opportunities within the County.
“Our staff presented information on a wide range of AJCC Business Services, including LA County Economic Development Corporation grant-funded programs and employer-support initiatives; On-the-Job Training opportunities, for which employers are reimbursed for a portion of the wages during training; and Transitional Jobs, a subsidized employment opportunity that assists individuals with limited work histories to gain valuable experience.”
A Career Fair followed the BRT to sustain momentum and facilitate direct engagement between employers and job-ready customers. More than 100 jobseekers participated along with 20+ employers, including many from the BRT, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet so many qualified candidates in one place.
In addition to eight hires—seven on-the-spot and one post-event—the AJCC is expecting more successful placements to develop from the Fair over time, highlighting the impact of coordinated employer-jobseeker engagements and effective job-matching procedures through our program.
