Every day, some mode of transportation—on the ground, in the air, across bodies of water—is moving people and products from one place to another. With transportation so indispensable to our everyday activities, as well as business sectors—logistics, manufacturing, sales, technology, vehicle-maintenance, et al—on which it has an impact, the industry enjoys strong, positive economic and labor-market projections.
Tokunbo enrolled in KRA/PGWorks Non-custodial Parent Employment Program—operated for the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services—as a result of delinquent child-support payments. And, even after intensive career and workplace-preparation training, job-placement efforts were hindered repeatedly by Tokunbo’s multiple health and medical challenges.
However, all that changed when Rhonda Feimster, Senior Career Agent, invited new business partner, Transdev North America , to conduct onsite job interviews. Of the customers screened, Tokunbo—the second KRA/PGWorks placement—was selected for a Driver Training Program at $10.00/hour during training and $14.00/hour post-training.
Across the country, KRA capitalizes on the strength of the transportation industry, providing private- and public-sector employers—including First Transit, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System , and Tesla Motors—with reliable workers who can anticipate a variety of career opportunities in a stable, high-growth business sector.
