KRA Monthly Spotlight!

Last month, KRA Customer Gains Employment…and a Place to Call Home featured a homeless-jobseeker served by our Greater Hartford AJC. This month, another tale emerges from our San Diego Metro Career Centers. Sadly, from Connecticut to California—and every KRA program in between—there is no shortage of stories.  One east-coast operation reports that 1/3 of customers have experienced homelessness. Recently, a black-tie gala honored One Hundred Men of Color for positive contributions and long-term commitments to their respective Connecticut and Western Massachusetts communities. KRA Launches 8th Annual Community Care Campaign

Recently, KRA announced that its  2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC) focuses on two special jobseeker-populations, whose obstacles to meaningful and sustainable employment are not necessarily mutually exclusive: youth suffering from a form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and individuals with criminal backgrounds, i.e., ex-offenders. KRA Partnership Hosts Successful Career Expo

Recently, KRA hosted the 1st Annual Alameda County Career Expo in collaboration with the Alameda County Workforce Development Board (WDB), the Oakland WDB, and the City of San Leandro, CA. Convened at the Zero Net Energy Center in San Leandro, the huge event was also supported by the Contra Costa County WDB, the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, the EASTBAY Works America’s Job Centers network, and the Oakland Private Industry Council. KRA Hiring Events Yield Outstanding Results for Business-Customer Walmart

Deona Dorsey, KRA Operations Manager-Special Projects, Metro Region Career Centers, operated for the San Diego Workforce Partnership, reports, ” KRA San Diego has successfully connected hundreds of retail professionals with Walmart employment opportunities. It started with a community-wide effort to initiate a retail-focused hiring event for the holiday season, and as a regional leader in connecting jobseekers with employment, KRA San Diego was the optimal resource for facilitating the event. Ziad Eskharia, KRA Employment Specialist, Breaking Barriers San Diego, and I coordinated the first hiring event, with 150 jobseekers receiving on-site interviews, and a significant number walking away with job offers!

When Tiffany Largie, renowned Business Strategies Expert, approached the KRA Educational Department team of the DC TANF Employment Program (TEP), operated for the DC Department of Human Services, offering to share her personal journey to successful entrepreneurship, KRA/TEP staff and customers  welcomed the opportunity to attend one of her dynamic symposia.
