KRA Employee Produces Videos for NAWDP

In support of a workshop facilitated by Kimberly Staley, Program Manager, KRA/CTWorks, Greater Hartford Region in North Central Connecticut, at the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals’ (NAWDP) Annual Conference held last May, Joseph L. Seymour, KRA Trainer and Subject Matter Expert, created a Workforce Development Advocacy video.  Staley invited Bridget Brown, NAWDP Executive Director, to preview the video prior to the Conference to ensure accuracy, suitability, etc.  Brown was so impressed that she requested to use the video as a kick-off vehicle for the whole Conference! KRA and CWEP Partners Support Local Troops

As part of the 2012 Community Care Day Initiative to Support Our Troops, KRA’s Camden, New Jersey office collaborated with its Community Work Experience Program (CWEP) partners to demonstrate appreciation and support for local troops in Fort Dix, New Jersey. The goal of the campaign was to provide support, either by donating time, money, and/or items, from a list supplied by Ms. “MJ” Flammer, Center Operating Manager, USO of Southern New Jersey.  Recently, more than $500 and 300 items were turned over to Flammer, who delivered the gifts to the soldiers at Fort Dix. Dream Comes True for KRA Youth

Kaila Hunter was a 17 year-old, single parent when she enrolled in the KRA/SCWorks Out-of-School Youth Program 6 months ago.  Her mother  accompanied her to the Orientation, and voiced her concerns…which were three-fold…to Temecca Belcher, KRA Career Agent.  First, she wished for Kaila to further her education and training; second, to get a good job; and third, to achieve self-sufficiency to care for herself and her son.  At the same time, Kaila voiced her own concern, which was to qualify for training that would enable her to enter the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Edward Fairley Speaks at KRA VIEW Graduation

On November 30, 2012, the KRA/Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare Program (VIEW) celebrated its 11th Job Readiness Academy (JRA) Class Graduation of 2012.  All customers seeking employment assistance through KRA/VIEW must participate in the JRA, a month-long work-readiness course focusing on Resume Building, Work Ethics, Professionalism, Budgeting, Team Work, and other “soft skills” necessary to prepare them for community work experience, through the KRA/VIEW Public Service Program, or employment opportunities. KRA/CTWorks Closer to UW Goal

It was reported previously that KRA staff from the North Central Region’s CTWorks Program had set a goal to raise $3,000 by December 14, 2012, for a very deserving cause…the Hartford Area United Way 2012 Fundraising Campaign. To accomplish the goal, staff devised several unique “fun-raising” activities.  On December 5, it was proudly reported that two October and November activities… Dress-Up Jeans Day and Paper T-Shirt Contest…had raised $1,426 toward the goal!
