WIA Adults / Dislocated Workers

Under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, the Adults/Dislocated Worker Program provides critical resources and services to assist eligible individuals in qualifying for and obtaining meaningful employment. The program also helps employers find skilled workers who can contribute to their need to compete and succeed in business.

WIA defines “adults” as individuals who are at least 18 years of age. “Dislocated workers” are individual who have been laid off or terminated, have received official notice of termination or layoff, and are eligible for or has exhausted unemployment insurance. Displaced homemakers who are no longer supported by another family member are also eligible for services.

KRA provides services to Adults/Dislocated Workers through its One-Stop Career Center operations. Core services include outreach, job search and placement assistance, and provision of labor market information; Intensive services cover comprehensive assessment, development of employment plans, and counseling/planning; and Training services link customers to job opportunities in their communities, including both basic skills and occupational training skills. Based on eligibility and need, KRA also provides Supportive Services including childcare, dependent care, housing, transportation, and needs-related payments, under certain circumstances, to allow participation in the program.
