Comprehensive One-Stop Career Centers (One-Stops), available in every state, provide important resources for youth and adults seeking education, employment, and training/re-training and for businesses seeking qualified workers. Implemented by local Workforce Investment Boards, as specified by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, One-Stops offer specialized career development, job placement, and re-employment assistance programs. One-Stops provide skills assessment, career counseling, education and training, job listings/referrals, and other critical employment-related services, as the name indicates, under one roof.
In addition to WIA adult/dislocated worker services, the One-Stop system also offers access to non-WIA employment-related services, such as TANF welfare-to-work, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Veterans’ Employment and Training Services.
