Allied Health professionals are administrative and clinical healthcare providers who comprise 60 percent of the healthcare workforce. Allied Health professionals work in teams to assist Dentists, Doctors, and Nurses to make the healthcare system function. They provide a wide range of direct-patient care, diagnostic, technical, and therapeutic services that are critical to the other health professionals they work with, and to the patients they serve. Projections show a long-term shortage of qualified workers to fill many Allied Health positions. This is primarily due to a growing and aging population and large numbers of health workers nearing retirement. Studies have also pointed to the need for increased diversity in the Allied Health workforce to realize a culturally competent U.S. healthcare system.
KRA offers education and training programs that prepare students to work in the Allied Health field. Highlights of KRA’s Allied Health training include:
- Preparation to sit for an industry-recognized certificate, such as the Certified Dental Assistant Credential administered by the Dental Assistant National Board for Dental Assistant training program participants.
- A curriculum that educates students in both the clinical and administrative aspects of the duties and responsibilities required to succeed in the emerging job market for the particular occupation.
- Onsite and “externship” learning that provides hands-on experience demonstrating the skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.
- Job placement and retention services.
- Supportive services to ensure student participating in training and, depending on the funding source, employment.
KRA Allied Health Training is provided in a stand-alone school setting, or integrated with a TANF, WIA Adult/Dislocated Worker or WIA Youth program.
