A few of the projects have included a MLK Day of Service: Planting a Community Learning Garden; a Youth Foundations Retreat; Project in Progress: Bringing a Farmer’s Market to a Food Desert, which focused on healthy-living education; and a Community Police Academy project.

The Institute’s alumni network numbers in the 1000’s, and includes many Long Beach public officials—Mayor, Vice Mayor, City Council members—as well as representatives from businesses, organizations, and social-service agencies dedicated to community involvement and service.  In addition to participating in alumni events, they often facilitate the monthly trainings for the new leadership classes.
