KRA/DC Customer Accepted for Assistant General Counsel Internship

In October 2014, we reported that in June 2010, Candas Taylor was working successfully as a Contract Attorney with a DC law firm. Three years later, she was unemployed and supporting her family on Unemployment Insurance benefits.

Martha Homan, Team Lead Career Agent, reported, “When her UI expired, and Candas couldn’t find permanent employment, she was assigned to the  KRA/TANF Employment Program (TEP) by our client, the DC Department of Human Services, where she applied for public assistance.

KRA/TEP was successful in placing Candas as a Pro Bono Assistant Attorney with the DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration under an unpaid Community Work Experience contract, which expired in December 2014.  For the next 6 months, our Job Developers advised and supported Candas in her continuing search for employment in the legal profession.

Candas was accepted by LEAP, and just began her 1-year paid internship as a DCDOT Assistant General Counsel on August 31.  By this time next year, with 20+ months’ additional experience, we believe her legal career is definitely back on track!”
