Recently, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) convened its annual conference in Minneapolis, MN. More than 25 KRA Corporation staff attended, representing HQ and multiple offices of program sites from California, Connecticut, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Virginia. At the Awards Luncheon on May 20, two KRA staff took center stage to accept two of the four Advancing the Profession Awards bestowed by NAWDP to honor “individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession that have benefited customers of the workforce investment system.”
In accepting the 2013 Professional Development Award, Beth McCabe, CWDP, thanked several colleagues from KRA and Capital Workforce Partners (CWP), KRA client, for their support and stated, “One person cannot do it alone, it takes a team. I am blessed working with some amazing staff and partners in North Central Connecticut. My KRA team inspires me, motivates and humbles me. They are talented beyond belief but need the support and training to be exceptional and grow in workforce development. As you well know the work is not easy work and definitely not for the faint of heart.”
On the Get Recognized page of the NAWDP website, her profile reads, “Ms. Beth McCabe is the Coordinator of Staff Development and Core Services for CTWorks, the North Central Connecticut Region’s One Stop/WIA Core Services Program. In this role, she oversees the successful operations of four busy offices, the performance of 20 direct-staff, and the professional development and training of 70+ team members who serve more than 30,000 jobseeker-customers annually. On a daily basis, Beth’s professional accomplishments…and personal demeanor…inspire all who work with her. She proudly obtained her CWDP credential and graciously encourages and supports everyone on her team to obtain theirs. She actively researches, develops, and participates in staff training and development, planning and implementing learning opportunities that improve the overall quality of services. With demonstrated conviction, dedication, and enthusiasm, Beth not only “hears”, but “listens” to the voices of CTWorks ever-evolving family…staff and the One-Stop/WIA and TANF customers they serve. Tiffany Haynes graciously accepted the 2013 Jodi Spiegel Enhancement of Customer Service Award, stating “I am deeply honored to have been selected as the 2013 Recipient. I’d like to thank Ms. Alisha Bazemore for nominating me for this prestigious award. Customer Service is not just something I do, but it is a part of who I am. I believe that people should be treated fair and with kindness. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. That is why as Workforce Development Professionals it is our responsibility to honor our customers and colleagues with respect and compassion. I am sincerely grateful for this recognition from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. I would like to express my extreme gratitude to God, my husband, my family, KRA Corporation, and everyone I work with on a day to day basis. Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do, but how much love we put into every action.”
Haynes’ Get Recognized profile reads, “Ms. Tiffany Haynes serves as the Instructor Supervisor for the KRA/VIEW Job Readiness Program (JRP), serving TANF recipients in Norfolk, Virginia. She has exhibited distinct customer-service skills and abilities, building relationships that reflect a true advocacy for the workforce development profession. Under Ms. Haynes’ leadership, the JRP’s reputation as a rather formal job-skills training program has been transformed and reborn as a holistic learning experience, fueled by Ms. Haynes’ positive synergy, superb customer service, and engaging instructional style. Ms. Haynes exhibits leadership qualities in managing the classroom environment, coalescing community resources, and creating innovative instructional programs.
