KRA Corporate Counsel Elected to Maryland State House of Delegates

Vanessa E. Atterbeary, KRA Corporate Counsel, emerged from Tuesday’s general election as a winner in the race for a seat in the Maryland State House of Delegates, District 13.

Vanessa AtterbearyDelegate-Elect Atterbeary and fellow Team 13 members Guy Guzzone, Shane Pendergrass, and Frank Turner all won solidly in a very competitive field garnering a combined  60% of the vote.  Ms.  Atterbeary ultimately prevailed with an impressive 21,792 votes on her own.

In March 2014, Atterbeary began her neighborhood-focused campaign, knocking on doors and talking with people about her vision and passion for propelling Howard County forward.  Her platform stressed economic development; enhancing education; issues impacting women, families, and seniors; and preserving our environment.

Atterbeary’s stand on these matters led to endorsements from numerous organizations, including the Baltimore Sun, the Howard County Education Association, the AFL-CIO, the League of Women Voters, Equality Maryland, Clean Action Water Maryland, ASFCME Maryland, and the Maryland Association of Realtors.

The same issues that are important to District 13 residents, who Atterbeary will represent, overlap with the issues we work on every day at KRA—financial security for families and supporting business and economic growth.

In a statement following the release of the election results, Atterbeary thanked those who supported and voted for her stating, “I am certain that when I take my seat in the State House, it is because of your involvement and commitment to ensuring our win.  I am humbled and honored to serve.”

All of KRA is proud of Vanessa’s achievement, and is confident she will serve her constituents with the same dedication, commitment, and integrity that formed the foundation of the successful campaign that lead her to victory.
