For KRA Customer, No Expiration Date on Success

Jenilee worked in several labor-intensive fields after dropping out of high school 15 years ago. Then, in 2012 at age 30, she acquired a GED credential and Home Health Aide certification.

However, 2 years later, Jenilee still had not found sustainable employment and decided to enroll in the Job Skills Training Directly Related to Employment Program, operated by KRA Corporation for the Camden County [NJ] Workforce Investment Board.

With customized assessment and career-pathway coaching provided by Petra Cantu, KRA Career Agent, and job-readiness training (resume development, interviewing skills, job-search assistance, etc.) provided by Deshia Fontenot and Dwayne Brown, KRA Instructors, Jenilee successfully completed a course in Hospitality Services Gold, and received certification.

To augment her job skills, as well as to add more recent experience to her resume, Cantu placed Jenilee in an unpaid position with Camden Day Nursery, a valued participant in the KRA/Camden Community Work Experience (CWE) Program.

Cantu concluded, “As sometimes happens, our CWE provider had an open position, and was so impressed with Jenilee, offered her a full-time job!  She started on July 7, as a Child Care Provider, and is hopeful that this opportunity will lead to more financial independence for her and her family.  We at KRA/Camden wish her the best, and will miss her infectious smile and positive, can-do attitude.”
