VRAP: Helping Unemployed Veterans Join the Workforce

KRA Corporation feels that our Veterans are an important—and often unspoken—priority in public workforce policy today and second only to youth employment programming. Therefore we applaud the efforts of those agencies involved with the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). KRA Staff Receive Prestigious NAWDP Awards

Recently, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) convened its annual conference in Minneapolis, MN. More than 25 KRA Corporation staff attended, representing HQ and multiple offices of program sites from California, Connecticut, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Virginia.  At the Awards Luncheon on May 20, two KRA staff took center stage to accept two of the four Advancing the Profession Awards bestowed by NAWDP to honor “individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession that have benefited customers of the workforce investment system.” In accepting the 2013 Professional Development Award, Beth McCabe, CWDP, thanked several colleagues from KRA and Capital Workforce Partners (CWP),

KRA/VIEW Leads in Virginia WPR

The May issue of the VIEW From The Edge newsletter, produced for the Eastern Region by the Virginia Department of Social Services, recognized the KRA Corporation/VIEW (Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare) Program team in Norfolk for its March 2013 Work Participation Rate (WPR) of 57 percent!  KRA/VIEW, which has an active caseload of approximately 1,200 customers a month, has consistently led the State’s 12 largest caseload-size localities in WPR, which represents the number of customers participating in work activities out of all those expected to participate. KRA/VIEW Volunteers Hired…and Honored

Recently, several members of the KRA Corporation/VIEW (Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare) Program team in Norfolk,  attended a Volunteer Appreciation Reception Ceremony hosted by Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center*, a Public Service Site for KRA/VIEW jobseeker-customer volunteers since August 2007.  Ms. Janice Savage, Volunteer Program Coordinator, has hired several KRA/VIEW customers that began working at the Medical Center as volunteers.  So far in 2013, KRA/VIEW has placed six volunteers at DePaul Medical Center, and they have hired four as permanent employees: Tacara Scott, Information Specialist; Tamara Crouch, Certified Nursing Assistant; Latecia Cox, Record Completion Analyst; and Deion Harper, Claims Analyst.
