Greater Hartford, Connecticut

KRA manages a multi-service One-Stop Career Center that provides WIA Intensive and Training Services to support customers and businesses, including  career counseling, guidance and coaching services; instructional job search techniques, workshops; interest, aptitude and personality assessments; referrals to community partnering agencies, and job referral, placement and retention services.  Also, the program assists jobseekers to enhance and upgrade skills to qualify for in-demand careers through occupational skills training and OJT opportunities. KRA also operates a TANF Jobs First Employment Services program, which serves over 2,700 participants through intensive case management, work activities, subsidized and unsubsidized job placement and retention, and supportive services.

Lake Cumberland Area, Kentucky

KRA manages multiple Workforce Development Youth Services operations covering seven counties in south central Kentucky, including in-school and summer programs.

  • For the In-School Program, KRA provides a full range of workforce and youth development services, both directly and through referral to local partner organizations. These include recruitment; interest, math, and reading assessments; remedial tutoring and study-skills instruction; and leadership development. Work-readiness services include job application, resume preparation, and interviewing skills; job-shadowing; and short-term community work experience. Intensive career counseling includes information and resources related to employment and/or enrollment in colleges or technical schools. Follow-up is conducted for a full year after students graduate the program.
  • KRA operates a highly successful summer jobs program as part of the WorkNow Kentucky initiative. Each year, KRA places an average of 600 students in jobs, a number representing more than 15 percent of all the high school juniors and seniors in the seven-county area serviced by the WDYS program. KRA recruits an average of 250 employers, including those from construction, energy, healthcare, hospitality, and retail businesses…industries targeted by the U.S. Department of Labor under its “high growth job training” initiative. Also represented are local school systems; non-profits; and local county and city governments.

Louisville, Kentucky

KRA directed the operations of the KENTUCKIANAWORKS (the local Workforce Investment Board) Spectrum Center, an empowerment Youth Opportunity Program that focused on enhancing the job skills, training, career development, and educational enrichment of in-school and out-of-school youth in Louisville’s most economically challenged neighborhoods.

KRA directly managed the program in collaboration with four local partners: Louisville Community Initiative, Metropolitan YMCA, Jefferson Community College, and Jefferson Technical College.  As a WIA program, the Center was heavily connected to employers and offered a variety of ways for them to become involved in the Center’s operations.

Prince George’s County, Maryland

KRA’s Employment and Training Program provided employment-related services to Temporary Cash Assistance applicants and recipients, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program registrants, and non-custodial parents.  Services aimed to prepare customers for economic independence through an array of assessment, case management, job development and placement, and wraparound services from Prince George’s County’s three Employment Resource Centers.

Camden, New Jersey

Through its Camden Job Skills Training Directly Related to Employment Program, KRA manages three distinct workforce development projects: Community Work Experience/Job Skills Training Program (CWEP/JST) for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); General Assistance (GA); and Youth Employability Services (YES), under a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) initiative.

  • For TANF participants, the CWEP/JST provides employment assessment, case management, job-readiness training, community-based work experience opportunities, and permanent job placement services, as well as professional standards and expectations that employers seek in new job candidates. In addition, KRA provides employment coaching, life skills training, and referrals to state-supported services, including On-the-Job Training (OJT) employment opportunities.
  • Through the GA Program, KRA provides the same services as the CWEP/JST for individuals who do not have children in their care.
  • KRA operates YES for out-of-school youth 16-to-21, offering GED preparation and training and certification in Microsoft Digital Literacy and Hospitality Services, with certification provided by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute. KRA auxiliary and preparatory services include case management, life skills training, mentoring, job readiness, internships within the certification fields, and job-shadowing.  As appropriate, KRA assists with job placement, and/or entry into college or trade school for advanced training.

New York, New York

Under WIA Youth Services, the KRA Career Institute (KCI) operates a Dental Assistant Training Program that prepares successful graduates for the Certified Dental Assistant Credential administered by the Dental Assistant National Board. The KCI curriculum educates students in both the clinical and administrative aspects of the duties and responsibilities required to succeed in this emerging sector of the Allied Health job market. Clinical training includes basic computer skills, general anatomy, tooth identification, patient care, chair-side assisting techniques, dental radiology, office emergency procedures, CPR, and preventive dentistry. Administrative training includes customer service, office inventory, records management, communication, and business ethics.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

KRA managed five distinct workforce development operations: Employment Advancement and Retention Network (EARN) Centers, the Workforce Opportunities Program, and the Single Point of Contact (SPOC)/Work Plus Program. Through the KRA Career Institute (KCI), the firm offered training for Phlebotomy Technician and Dental Assistant Training Programs.

  • KRA operated EARN Centers in three separate Philadelphia communities, representing more than a 25 percent share of the market. KRA developed successful partnerships with regional employers, and delivered a one-stop system of services to welfare recipients moving from welfare to work. Serving approximately 2,200 job-seekers at any point in time, KRA delivered a continuum of assessment, intensive case management, job readiness training, work experience activities, job placement and retention, and supportive services.

  • Operated by KRA, the SPOC/Work Plus Program provided case management, job readiness and occupational skills training, and job placement and retention services for welfare-to-work clients who had been on cash assistance for 60 months or more.

  • Under the Workforce Opportunities Program operation, KRA provided intensive case management, work activities, job placement and retention, and supportive services to welfare recipients who had to move rapidly from welfare to work. In addition, KRA provided a minimum of 6 months of job retention assistance once participants were placed in employment.
  • The KCI Phlebotomy Technician Program was approved by several certifying agencies including the American Medical Technologists organization and The National Center of Competency Testing. Graduates of KCI’s program were qualified to attain these globally recognized credentials that qualified them for entry-level positions in laboratory and other medical settings. Through onsite and “externship” learning, KCI covered anatomy, medical terminology, protocols/procedures used in laboratory environments, total quality management, and legal and ethical considerations. Classroom instruction and hands-on practice provided skills in patient preparation, venipuncture and dermal puncture, infection control, safety, and specimen-handling and processing.
  • The KCI operated a Dental Assistant Program, for TANF recipients, preparing graduates for the Certified Dental Assistant Credential. Waccamaw Region, South Carolina

KRA operates two WIA One-Stop Career Center programs, one for Adults/Dislocated Workers and one for Youth, through the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments.

  • Through the Youth Employability and Success (YES) program, KRA provides a comprehensive year-round program for disadvantaged in-school and out-of-school youth facing significant barriers to employment. YES empowers youth by introducing them to various career and educational options, and equipping them with the necessary skills to find and maintain meaningful employment and/or higher education opportunities. Workplace-readiness services include interest, math, and reading assessment; GED preparation; job application and interviewing skills; and intensive career counseling.
  • KRA provides WIA Intensive and Training Services that benefit and support adult job seekers, laid-off and incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and area businesses. KRA offers interest, aptitude, and personality assessment; skills upgrading through occupational training and OJTs; career coaching, counseling, and guidance; instructional job search technique workshops; job referral, placement and retention services; referrals to community partnering agencies; and other employment-related services as required. Adhering to a sector-driven strategy that targets service businesses and job-seeker services in high-growth industries, KRA assists businesses with recruitment, screening, and referral of prospective employees.

Greater Richmond, Virginia

KRA manages a multi-service One-Stop Career Center that provides WIA Intensive and Training Services to support customers and businesses including  career counseling, guidance; and coaching services; instructional job search technique workshops; interest, aptitude, and personality assessments; referrals to community partnering agencies; skills upgrading through occupational training and OJT; and job referral, placement and retention services.  The program follows a sector-driven strategy, targeting service businesses and job-seeker services in the transportation and warehousing; professional, scientific, and technical services; healthcare; and advanced manufacturing industries.

Norfolk, Virginia

KRA manages the Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare (VIEW) program providing intensive case management services; occupational skills training, work experience activities; GED preparation; job development, placement, and retention; and supportive services to over 1,400 welfare-to-work clients receiving cash assistance. In addition, KRA provides intensive follow-up for 24 months, including job retention services for up to 12 months after participants are placed in employment. Also, under VIEW, KRA is a leading employer in the state’s Full Employment Program, a totally customized training program under which local employers define their workforce needs and KRA provides tailored training and delivery of customers to meet these needs.

South Hampton Roads, Virginia

KRA provides a comprehensive year-round WIA program for students through its Youth Employability and Success Program (YES), designed to reach at-risk, disadvantaged youth facing significant barriers to employment after graduation. YES empowers youth by introducing them to various career and educational options, and equipping them with the necessary skills to find and maintain meaningful employment or higher education opportunities. Workplace-readiness services include interest, math, and reading assessment; job application, resume preparation, and interviewing skills; and intensive career counseling related to employment and/or enrollment in colleges or technical schools. An impressively high number of YES graduates go on to 4-year colleges and state-accredited trade schools.
