KRA Monthly Spotlight!

Our December Spotlight! is shining brightly and aptly—as another spectacular year comes to an end—on KRA Employee Achievements!  In Connecticut, Maryland, and California, on December 8, 9, and 12, respectively, hundreds of employees, family members, and friends gathered to celebrate those employees whose performance most exemplified KRA’s Core Values…Knowledge, Responsibility, and Achievement…in 2016. During three Evenings of Excellence, more than 185 employees were honored for having distinguished themselves in three arenas pivotal to KRA’s expansion, growth, and success throughout its 35th year of operation. KRA Adopts Beach Streets Midtown Intersection

The website states, “There are several key ways the City hopes to use ‘Beach Streets’ as an invitation to think differently about our streets.” And, attended by such dignitaries as Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and City Councilmember Daryl Supernaw, Beach Streets Midtown was another spectacular success! In the spirit of the 2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC), the KRA Knowledge2Career (K2C) Academy, operated for the Pacific Gateway WDB, joined Beach Streets Midtown by adopting a midtown/central Long Beach intersection and shining a light on the needs of hard-to-place youth for skills-training and -certification and jobs with “second-chance employers”. KRA Gives Thanks for Local Agencies’ Services

The multi-site Greater Hartford AJC,  operated by KRA for Capital Workforce Partners (CWP), demonstrated its appreciation for the family-support services offered by two vital area organizations through a “Thanks and Giving” food and clothing drive. Organized by Lydia Santiago, KRA Unit Supervisor, and supported by co-workers in the Hartford Office,  one of the drive’s beneficiaries was CT Transition House, an Urban Alliance, Inc. partner that provides clothing, food, housing, and utility assistance to area families. KRA Receives Award for BUILDing Ex-offender Community Awareness

Months before KRA announced its 2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC), KRA’s Baltimore City Work Participation, Placement, and Support Services Program—operated for the Department of Social Services—was already a designated Community Partner supporting Turnaround Tuesday (TAT), a skills-training and job-placement program for “returning citizens”. Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development (BUILD) found its efforts to attract Business Partners so successful, they had more unfilled training slots and employment opportunities than ex-offender applicants.  Spearheaded by Career Agent Jermietria Carroll, for its 2016 CCC project, KRA/Baltimore targeted several high-crime zip codes and distributed TAT flyers  for an Ex-Offender Expo, expanding awareness of the services available

KRA Partners with YALLA to Support Exploited Youth

Recently, KRA announced that its 2016 Community Care Campaign (CCC) focuses on two special jobseeker-populations: ex-offenders and youth symptomatic of PTSD-related behavior. The KRA/San Diego Metro Career Centers, operated for the San Diego Workforce Partnership, report that California is ranked in the top five states for human trafficking, and in recent news, the FBI designated San Diego as a “high intensity child prostitution area.” To support the targets—refugees, immigrants, and under-served youth—of this appalling exploitation KRA/San Diego partnered with YALLA (Youth Leaders Living Actively), which uses athletic and academic programs to assist this victimized population in rebuilding their lives.
